Dance Marathon

Friday night I went to Dance Marathon to shoot. I went early because another photographer John was covering the same event later in the night. I went at 6PM, which ended up being a pretty good time to go. Everyone was trying to register and get situated. I took advantage of the track that goes around the Huff and shot half the time up there. I got some good shots from above, an angle that I don't get to shoot from usually so I was pretty excited about that.

I adjusted WB and ISO quite a bit in the hours that I shot. There was only one lighting source type, but the individual lights were replaced at different times, and therefore burned at different temperatures. Horrible for shooting, but it wasn't too bad at overall.

Two Dance Marathon execs preside over a game similar to Simon Says. Nikon D200, 18mm, 1/10 at f/3.5, ISO 100, WB 3700. PS CS3 crop, grayscale and level edit. Since there was so much movement I wanted to capture it to better portray the game. I set the shutter to 1/10 of a second and held it steadily over my head.

A Dance Marathon exec helps dozens of girls register before the fun begins. Nikon D200, 18mm, 1/40 at f/3.5, ISO 400, WB Auto.

The registration line stretched the length of the basketball court. Nikon D200, 18mm, 1/40 at f/3.5, ISO 400, WB Auto. This photo was taken from the track on the second floor.

The OU Pom squad performs for a crowd before the dancing begins. The Pride of Oklahoma drum line also performed that night. Nikon D200, 22mm, 1/100 at f/3.8, ISO 800, WB Fluorescent.
The registration line from another angle. Again, I tried to use a slower shutter to give some movement to the picture. Nikon D200, 38mm, 1/6 at 3.8, ISO 100, WB Fluorescent.

Again, registration from above. Nikon D200, 95mm, 1/40 at f/5.3, ISO 800, WB Fluorescent.
