I came to the realization that I don't do a lot of daily shooting anymore. It is always good practice to go and shoot something everyday, as small as it may be, just to stay sharp and keep your eye open to different things. This is my attempt to get back into it.

Tree on Campus

Tree on Campus
That said, I noticed that a lot of trees were being cut down on campus. Some were necessary since they were ripped to shreds during the last ice storm, but some didn't make sense to me upon first observation. One in particular was an old tree on the South Oval opposite Dale Hall and Copeland Hall. The tree was old, I admit, but it still looked (to me, the untrained eye) that the tree had many years left in it. Today I saw it laying on the ground in six big pieces, its body rendered lifeless and mangled as if it were being dissected. It was kind of sad. The wood bled sticky sap and showed signs of many trying years. The old tree once stood tall among the oldest trees on South Oval but now hugs the ground waiting to become trivial grass. Tisk tisk.
Here's to you, tree. Thanks for your... shade and oxygen.

Two pieces of the tree. The sap stained the stump like blood from a messy murder.

Close up of the bark. Lot of things going on here, all of which I do not understand. The green provides a nice color accent.
On another note, I'm glad it's the weekend.

I know, I saw this leafy giant strewn on the ground today too. Twas sad. I also got pictures, like you. Staying sharp, that kind of thing.
